Compass Oncology Adds New Medical Oncologist to Vancouver Office

Dr. David Cosgrove joins Compass from Johns Hopkins University, adding to our team of specialists with advanced expertise in gastrointestinal (GI) and breast cancers.

Portland, Oregon (Aug. 27, 2015) ― Compass Oncology, the region’s largest independently owned oncology practice, is pleased to announce the addition of medical oncologist David Cosgrove, M.D. to its Vancouver office, one of six offices in the Portland-Vancouver metro area.

Dr. Cosgrove is a general oncologist with advanced subspecialty expertise in treating gastrointestinal and breast cancers. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. Prior to joining Compass, Dr. Cosgrove served as both assistant professor of medical oncology at Johns Hopkins University and as clinical director of University practice for the department of medical oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He is active in clinical trials, co-directing the Phase I trials group at Johns Hopkins and now serving on The US Oncology Research Network’s national GI Research Committee. During his time at Johns Hopkins, he was instrumental in establishing a multidisciplinary liver tumor clinic that now serves as a model for other clinics at the University.

A graduate of University College Dublin, School of Medicine, Dr. Cosgrove completed his residency at James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, followed by an Osler Medical Residency, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md. He completed his fellowship in medical oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. Dr. Cosgrove is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association of Cancer Research.

Dr. Cosgrove was born in West Virginia and grew up in Ireland. He is an avid soccer player and enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the great Northwest with his wife and two daughters.
