“It is my sincere privilege to bring physical therapy services to Compass Oncology. Patients facing cancer diagnoses or the aftermath of cancer treatments need providers who truly listen and support them in their journey. I am honored to be a part of this team and am committed to developing this program to best meet the needs of our patients.”
Kristy is a physical therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience and a more recent focus in oncology rehabilitation/lymphedema care at the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, part of the James Cancer Institute of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Kristy is passionate about getting to know her patients and their families. Her manual treatments and exercise programs are based on her patient’s goals for improving function and restoring quality of life during and after cancer treatment. In addition, Kristy is an advocate for “prehabilitation” – a program that couples physical therapy with other services such as nutritional support, stress reduction strategies and nurse navigation to establish patient baselines, identify needs for early intervention, and monitor patients throughout cancer treatment to improve patient outcomes. Kristy thrives on being part of an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care. She is a certified lymphedema therapist recognized by LANA (Lymphology Association of North America) and has extensive experience treating other cancer-related impairments, including fatigue, decreased range of motion and strength, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, gait problems, balance deficits and musculoskeletal pain.
Outside of work, Kristy enjoys exercising, spending time with her family, and exploring Portland and the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
